Chapters are formed to advance the mission of AISES at colleges and universities with Indigenous students in attendance and/or official support services for these students. The objective is to support the success of Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander students in their intellectual, academic, social, and professional pursuits in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and related disciplines. The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is a
national nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers.

The University of Kansas (KU) chapter of ASME promotes community, growth, and learning within the Mechanical Engineering department by hosting collaborative events, featuring guest speakers, and organizing ways to help students become more involved in the KU Mechanical Engineering community. Additionally, KU ASME seeks out companies willing to showcase industry and actively works with the Engineering Career Center and other related entities to best prepare its members for the professional field.

In addition to attending KU ASME's general events throughout the semester, members also have an opportunity to join the Technical Division Committee, Conference Committee, and Event Committee where members have the chance to gain experience working with ASME

KU ASME hosts a variety of events throughout the year to provide our members with a diverse range of experiences that promote personal and professional growth. Our organization consists of four committees: Academic, Conference, Professional Development, and Technical Division.
Academic Committee provides students with resources to succeed in their academic career. They will organize exam review sessions for difficult engineering courses along with FE exam informational events to prepare our senior students for the path to becoming a licensed professional engineer. Additionally, ASME hosts a podcast that interviews engineers to gain insight on various fields and careers.
Conference Committee is tasked with hosting an annual EFx® conference that fosters a community of students and early career engineers focused on developing their skills and sharing their experiences. Our conference hosts competitions that put participants’ knowledge to the test, networking events to learn about each other’s experience, and workshops that improve soft skills and hard skills.
Technical Division Committee produces events such as CAD workshops and RC car modification projects that offer our members the opportunity to apply their engineering knowledge and collaboration skills. Furthermore, the committee invites accomplished engineers and researchers to offer insight into the latest developments in the field of mechanical engineering.

Engineers Without Borders is a service organization dedicated to providing engineering solutions to improve the quality of life for others. We also allow students to get hands-on engineering, project management, and teamwork experience.

We do that locally by volunteering in the Lawrence and Kansas City area. We do that nationally by assisting in disaster relief efforts. We do that internationally with our water resource and sanitation projects around the world.

Membership Benefits
Students interested in volunteering and getting project experience can work on a wide range of projects right from the start of their participation. Students are also able to travel locally, domestically, and globally for engineering projects with less financial demand and time commitment than a study abroad. Students will gain the ability with hands-on construction tools, design work, working with professional engineering mentors, explore culturally, and connect with like-minded students.

Jayhawk High Power Rocketry (JHPR) exists to certify students in high power rocketry (HPR), connect classroom knowledge with practical hands-on system design, and compete and represent the University of Kansas at collegiate level HPR competitions.

To get involved, students can join the discord or attend our general informational meetings. We post notifications to Discord and Instagram (linktr.ee/jayhawkrocketry). Students unable to attend meetings may request a copy of the meeting minutes and the slides used in any presentations in the discord.

The purpose of this organization is to apply the knowledge gained through KU coursework to a high paced and technically driven teamwork environment. The primary goal is to design, build, test and compete a Formula SAE race car at a sanctioned national event.

Many students from all over the country come to The School of Engineering at KU every year to be a part of Jayhawk Motorsports. Each year, cross-disciplinary teams build vehicles to take to international competitions against other universities. The vehicles are judged on a wide variety of criteria such a design, performance, and marketing. Students gain experience in project management, design, manufacturing, testing and perhaps most importantly, teamwork. Jayhawk Motorsports is a well known name in these competitions and we are working to continue that legacy. We constantly encourage all students from different academic backgrounds to get involved with our organization in any way they can. Since JMS has no membership fees, students are encouraged to come whenever their schedule allows and apply the engineering methods we learn in class to a real-life scenario.
